Leadership Training

The organization allows each member an opportunity to serve in National or Regional positions with a term of 1 to 2 years. Members also can serve on various committees within the organization. This will enable them to develop leadership skills. These trainings are provided to aide members to be the best possible leader. Will be managed by the Programs Committee – Initiating in 2021

Leadership Styles – This training program is designed to teach our sisters that it is important for our sisters to recognize and understand different leadership styles including the situations in which they work best. However, we are unlikely to be a successful business leader simply by mimicking these. Leadership is not about providing a certain response in a certain situation. It’s about using our natural leadership strengths in an authentic manner to inspire and motivate others.

Delegating Tasks – This program is designed to teach the importance of knowing how the delegation of work to someone else requires the manager to mentor and ensure that the person completes the task. The delegator may need to spend as much time teaching the other individual how to do the task as to complete the task himself/herself. Delegating is important in any organization to prevent burn out of any individual.

Motivating a Team – This program is designed to teach how to achieve great results when you provide sorors with opportunities for growth and development. These opportunities should be tailored specifically to suit the individual soror and can be in the form of further training, setting challenging targets, inviting a soror to shadow you or spending your own time teaching and mentoring a soror.

Professional Attire & Demeanor – This training program teaches sorors how professional attire and demeanor is a much more complex matter than simply wearing a suit to a job interview. The way you dress and conduct yourself sends a message, and training can help you control what message you send.

Team Building Exercises – Sorority Evolution Curve, Culture Triangle, Problem Solving Techniques, Professional Development – Conducted throughout the year via Zoom Meetings – Beginning 2020

Team Evolution Curve is a facilitated discussion we will use within our sorority about where we are now and what we need to do to evolve. If our goal is to become a high performing sorority, then this tool will help us get there by helping the organization see what it is we need to improve.

Culture Triangle – Culture Triangle is motivational activities that will help our sorority sisters understand each other better to improve collaboration within our organization. This team building activity achieves its objective by talking about, and getting behind, the stereotypes that professionals from different areas hold about each other. The stereotypes held always have elements of truth within them, but also contain huge generalizations that should not go un-challenged. This exercise provides an opportunity for the truths to be discussed and worked with, and the myths to be dispelled, providing a firmer foundation as the team goes forward.

Problem Solving Techniques – Problem Solving Team Building (PSTB for short) is a 30-45-minute activity where the problem ‘owner’ goes through a structured process of brainstorming, issue analysis, and action planning to achieve a plausible solution to their issue. The result is a prioritized list of options and solutions that the group accepts. The PSTB manages resistance to change as the steps encourage involvement, inclusion, and rapid progress.
